Matter Labs Uses Lagrange to Decentralize Proving Across the Elastic Chain

March 20, 2025

Matter Labs and Lagrange have reached a deal to direct up to 75% of Matter Labs’ outsourced proof demand for the Lagrange Prover Network (LPN) over the next two years. This milestone agreement between Matter Labs and Lagrange comes just months after the successful integration of ZKsync’s ZK stack prover with the LPN.

Matter Labs will Direct Up to 75% of Outsourced Proofs to Lagrange

In late 2024, Lagrange demonstrated for the first time the technical and economic viability of replacing the centralized ZK stack prover with the Lagrange Prover Network. This milestone was reached with the support of Lagrange’s top operators, including P2P, Nethermind, Black Sand, EigenYields, and Staked. Since then, the LPN has improved costs, increased throughput, and strengthened the reliability of decentralized proving for ZKsync’s rollup ecosystem.

These benefits help support the Elastic Network — where any developer can build their own sovereign ZK chains — requiring a stable, scalable proving at low cost and reliable liveness. The LPN delivers on these requirements by providing universal decentralized proof generation that improves on centralized alternatives. Read more about the LPN.

ZKsync provides developers with flexibility and optionality. Keeping costs low and liveness high through decentralized proving provides developers with the open landscape to build what they want how they want. For ZKsync users, this translates into lower gas fees and faster transactions. For businesses, this builds greater confidence in the performance and liveness of L2s on the Elastic Network.

The Future of Decentralized Proving with Lagrange

Proving once again that every app will be a ZK app in the near future, Lagrange maintains its commitment to creating a ZK-integrated world one ZK chain provider at a time. Rollup-as-a-service platforms including Caldera and AltLayer are also benefitting first hand from Lagrange by relying exclusively on the Lagrange Prover Network for their own ecosystems’ proof generation.
